Mom's Day

Happy Mother's Day Moms! It's a day when many of us unfortunately only have memories. I miss my Mommy soooooooooooooooooo much. I didn't have her around for most of my growing up years, but I got to know her more as an adult. She was a wonderful and very loving person, very giving and thoughtful. She had a hard life, and I wish she could have had more happiness. I know she loved me, and I only wish we had more years together.

I love you and miss you so much Mom.

I'm now on Twitter!

as SSCandleLady

I got on it to be able to watch my daughter's posts as she does her 3 day+ journey from Florida to Puerto Villarte (sp?) but I think I might explore other business uses.

Anyone have any good suggestion on how they use twitter for their business?

The scentaholic is at it again!

Sorry for being so bad about writing - seems there is always something going on keeping me busy! I definitely could use more hours in a day!

One of my suppliers had the nerve to add some wonderful sounding new scents! The nerve! I also picked up a box of scents from someone going out of business so there is quite a few here to talk about!

Hope something sounds too good to resist! :)

Australian Bamboo - This creative fragrance begins with top notes of fresh lime, mint, and ozone; balanced with middle notes of French lavender, and well-rounded with a nice base note of white musk.

Awupuhi Seaberry - The aroma of tropical flowers and ozonic marine notes collide in this fresh fragrance. Awapuhi seaberry fragrance begins with top notes of Italian bergamot extract, tart seaberries, and marine, ozonic notes; flowing nicely into middle notes of geranium, jasmine, and fresh rose petals; well-balanced with a base note of white musk.

Bamboo & Green Tea - A soothing citrus fragrance with pungent and dry tones that brings green tea leaves together with bergamot, mandarin and jasmine followed by the enveloping aromas of black currant and pomegranate

Beach Daisies - Sweep yourself away to the beach, where you will smell the aromas of fresh spring flowers and green grass while walking on the warm sands. Beach daisies fragrance begins with top notes of Asian lemongrass, dune grass, and daisy petals; followed by middle notes of gardenia bloom, ylang ylang, and clove leaf; sitting on base notes of blond woods, amber sands, and sheer musk

Black Linen & Amber - Very unique, very sexy! Black linen and amber is a unisex fragrance that begins with top notes of fresh cotton and crisp ozonic notes; followed by middle notes of white blossoms; well rounded with base notes of cashmere, amber, musk, and patchouli.

Breezes & Sunshine - An aromatic blend of citrus, fresh marine notes, and summer flowers. Sure to make you feel a sense of happiness and freedom. Breezes and sunshine fragrance begins with top notes of blood orange blossoms and sea waves; followed by rose, and sitting on base notes of sea lily flowers and woody notes.

Champagne - This scent smells so much like the real thing that you could swear the bubbles are tickling your nose! The is a slightly sweet, effervescent fragrance

Cranberry Balsam - Strong top notes of fresh balsam fir needles, and hints of citrus; middle notes of rose, nutmeg and jasmine; bottom notes of tart cranberries, and fresh greenery. Very Complex!

French Market - Flowerstall with roses, magnolia, gardenia, tuberose and iris blossom.

Guava Fig - A wonderful summer accord that combines the freshness of citrus and tropical fruits with a warm base of Mediterranean fig. Guava fig fragrance begins with top notes of Fugi apple slices, French cassis, and Kaffir lime leaves; followed by middle notes of Anjou pear, Rio red graprefuit, and sweet valencia; sitting on bottom notes of Mediterranean fig, guava nectar, and Tahitian passion fruit.

Hanami Blossoms - Apple Blossom, Starfruit, Petitgrain, Asian Lotus, Bougenvallia, Osmanthus, Iris, Neroli, Oak Moss

Icescapes Fragrance - Frosty, fresh, and clean! A blast of iced bergamot and green apple creates a fresh, bracing top note, leading to a floral middle of winter lily and Christmas rose, with white musk on the bottom

Lemon Poppyseed - The aroma of freshly-baked lemon poppyseed muffins. This fragrance begins with top notes of candied lime savors, lemon syrup, and bergamot extract; followed by middle notes of poppyseed muffin, brown sugar, and clove bud; sitting on base notes of marshmallow fluff, vanilla cake batter, and white musk. Scrumptious

Lotus Blossom - The lotus flower is a symbol of beauty, purity, and fertility. Lotus flowers are water-fresh, clean, and slightly powdery in nature. Not too sweet, absolutely perfect! Even people who do not like florals will love this aroma! This unique floral aroma is used in many upscale fragrances to create the most luxurious blends.

Mandarin Coconut - A fabulous summer arrangement of fresh mandarin oranges, tropical fruits, creamy coconut, and vanilla bean. Mandarin coconut fragrance begins with top notes of fuzzy apricot skin, mandarin balm, and yellow star fruit; followed by middle notes of white nectarine, papaya smoothie, and mango juice; sitting on base notes of Caribbean coconut, vanilla bean, and Venezuela tonka.

Milk N Honey - Creamy, fresh white scent (mmm & milk!) and sweet honey straight from the comb. A perfect, farm-fresh mix.

Myrhh - A resinous, amber fragrance with an earthy base.

Oatmeal - Comfort and warmth. A nutty, wheaty scent.

Rainflowers - Heliotrope, Rain, Cashmere Musk

Vanilla Blossoms - A harmonious blend of French vanilla, fresh air notes and summer flowers. Natures Garden's vanilla blossom fragrance begins with top notes of dewy fresh air, coconut cream, and ripe pineapple; followed by middle notes of ylang ylang, star jasmine, and Moroccan roses; sitting on base notes of French vanilla, Egyptian musk, and exotic sandalwood.

White Tea - This soft, clean scent is reminiscent of the popular Plumeria aroma. However, White Tea has it's own unique qualities and a slight fruit based top note

Wildberry Zinger Tea - A beautiful match to the Wildberry Zinger Tea from Celestial Seasonings! A perfect blend bursting with the natural flavor of black raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, red raspberries, cranberries, and even cherries! Herbs like hibiscus, rosehips, and chicory give this tea it’s zing!

Wild Poppy - Skip through a fragrant field of wild flowers as the sun warms your face.

New Designer Dupes -

Beach type - dupe - Blend of Sand, Sea Spray, Salt, Jasmine, Mandrin

Daisy type - Dupe - Our rendition begins with top notes of tangy lemon and jasmine; followed by middle notes of muguet lily, rose petals, African violet, and daylily; sitting on base notes of cedarwood, patchouli, and musk.

Divine (Victoria's Secret type) Fragrance - This interpretation of Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Divine (could they have made the name a little longer?!) is the perfect blend of soapy and sexy. Top notes of roses, water hyacinth, jasmine, dewy violet, and cyclamen lead to a warm body of florals, musks, and wood accords.

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker (type) Fragrance - Top notes of mandarin, lavender ylang, and apple martini lead to an earthy floral heart of orchid, rosewood, and patchouli. A glamorous finish is provided by cedar, white amber, soft woods, and white musk.

Perfect World (Origins type) Fragrance - A most unusual blend, which is what we've come to expect from Origins . . . technically this fragrance would fall into the "fruity-floral" family, but it's much deeper and more mysterious than most fragrances in that category. Top notes of peach and red apple lead to a fruity-floral middle of juicy peach, cyclamen, freesia, and sweet lily. Amber and musk provide a soft, dreamy, mysterious drydown. Unlike anything you've ever smelled before . . . bottom line, enormously likable -- and unisex, despite all the fruits and flowers.

Stella McCartney Deluxe (type) Fragrance - Only the finest ingredients have been used in this re-creation of this amazing fragrance from top fashion designer Stella McCartney -- an unforgettable fusion of deep red rose and soft sweet amber.

Wedding Day (Yankee type) - A sophisticated blend of fruits, floral blossoms and greens.

I am bring featured on this blog - and there is a giveaway!

New tins!

I used to rearrange furniture a lot. I think I get bored easy. Maybe that's why I stayed single!

I can't just stick with my same old designs - I am always adding something new. This time I bought some colored tins on a surplus sale. I finally came up with a new design for their label. I think that's where I have the most fun - should have been a designer?

Any feedback - good? so so? yuck?

Sweet Potato Fries - YUM!

Tonight was the third time I made these and I LOVE them! So much more yummy and I would think (and hope!) - better for you.

I take one large sweet potato (for just me) - wash it off - hardest part is cutting it up. I like smaller fry like shapes - but you could do larger wedges. Dump that in a gallon zip lock and add a few tablespoons EVOO and shake till all the pieces are coated. Dump them out and spread on a cookie sheet (I like to use tin foil on the cookie sheet) and sprinkle with either a grill seasoning or I use an all purpose seasoning. Bake at 425 degrees 20 - 25 minutes - depending on how thick you cut and how crispy you want them.

Let cool a little - and oh my! Delicious! I'll have to take a pic next time I make them - which could be very soon!

Inauguration Time!

My daughter is - as I type this - on her way to Washington DC. My sister will be at a rally in Cambridge, MD. Tomorrow will truly be an exciting day for this country.

There is just something about this upcoming President that just speaks HOPE to this country. I was amazed on election night and right after - how many people I heard from - from so many other countries - among them Australia and Germany - who were so cognizant of our politics, and were also truly excited about the results.

I know I will be glued to the set. While none of the serious issues we face as a country will be solved overnight, I am truly optimistic that Barack Obama is truly the best man for the job. A wonderful historic day and truly exciting!

Getting ready for Valentine's Day!

Got a few new things for the special romantic evening!

Massage oil - my clear unscented lightweight massage oil is a blend of Sesame Oils, Rice Bran Oil, Jojoba Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil. These highly processed and pharmaceutical grade oils are very light in weight and offer excellent glide and texture. This oil washes out of most linens easily without the aid of additives. I can add a touch of scent

Love Dust - Edible flavored honey powder mixed with flavor powder - makes a delightful fun treat for men OR women. And I found the cutest little red mini feather "duster" to go along with it.

And of course a red candle!
